Introduction

If the in-play stats are not good enough to enter a 'O2.5' trade during the first half or you simply want to save yourself some time by trading in a shorter time window, you can wait until the second half.

For this, you need the half-time score to be 0-0 or 1-0/0-1 and I'm going to show you an example of each scenario.

Example Trade 1

This game in the German 2. Bundesliga was 0-0 at half-time.

Going for 3 second half goals would have been very aggressive, so I switched to the 'Over/Under 1.5 Goals' market instead.

You can see below that the 'Under 1.5 Goals' price was down to 1.86 to lay but I waited 10 minutes or so before checking the in-play stats.

At the 57 minute mark there was some attacking play from both teams and I was happy to enter a trade.

By waiting just 11 minutes I was now able to lay 'Under 1.5 Goals' at 1.5 rather than 1.86 which was much better risk/reward.

In other words, for less liability my potential profit was exactly the same!

I layed 'Under 1.5 Goals' at 1.5 with a stake of £20.00.

You can see below that I had a liability of £10.00 and a potential profit of £19.60 (£20.00 less 2% commission).

Magdeburg took the lead on 75 minutes.

I'd been hoping for a goal much sooner so that I'd be able to secure a much better potential profit, but waiting a while before getting in had helped massively because I could still trade my position well.

I had layed 'Under 1.5 Goals' to open my trade and now I did exactly the opposite; I layed 'Over 1.5 Goals' at 2.08 with a stake of £10.00 (my original liability).

You can see below that my liability on 'Under 1.5 Goals' was now removed and that I had a potential profit of £9.02 on 'Over 1.5 Goals'.

Magdeburg scored a second goal on 90+2 to land my profit.

I risked £10.00 and banked £9.02 profit which is a solid return.

Example Trade 2

This German 2. Bundesliga game was 1-0 at half-time so I was able to stick with the 'Over/Under 2.5 Goals' market.

You can see below that the 'Under 2.5 Goals' price was almost back to 2.0 or so but I waited about 10 minutes before checking the in-play stats.

At the 56 minute mark I was happy enough with the in-play stats to enter a trade.

Again, by waiting I was now able to lay at a much better price. Rather than 2.06 the price had dropped all the way down to 1.65.

I layed 'Under 2.5 Goals' at 1.65 with a stake of £20.00.

You can see below that I had a liability of £13.00 and a potential profit of £19.60 (£20.00 less 2% commission).

This time, I didn't get a goal early enough to trade.

The in-play action from both teams was still really good so I decided to go for a late saver.

At 83 minutes I layed 'Under 1.5 Goals' at 1.53 with a stake of £13.27. It seems a weird number, but it's simply the £13.00 liability I already had plus 2% to cover the commission.

It created an additional liability of £7.03 (I now had a liability across the two markets of £20.03) and there was a potential profit of exactly £13.00 on 'Over 1.5 Goals'.

Nurnberg equalised on 90+3.

I made £13.00 profit from the 'Over/Under 1.5 Goals' market and £13.00 loss from the 'Over/Under 2.5 Goals' market so scratch overall.

I'm more comfortable being aggressive when the score is 1-0/0-1 rather than 0-0 because I know that the losing team has to score if they're going to avoid a loss.

It often leads to a goal (at either end of the pitch) and that's good enough.
